Shantou (Swatow)

This is the beautiful historic center of Shantou. The city and district, also well known as Swatow, are situated at the northeast of Guangdong district and are famous because of the tea and porcelain which is coming from there.

Shantou is significant in the 19th-century Chinese history as one of the treaty ports established for western trade and contact.

The Shantou University is one of Guangdong’s top rated universities.


Some other famous places at Shantou district are Chenhai, Longhu, Jinping, Haojiang, Chaoyang, Chaonan and the beautiful island-county Nan’ao.
